It is with great sadness that the family of Martin Allan Szalai announces his sudden and tragic death on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the age of 59.
Martin was a caring father, husband, brother, son, and friend who enjoyed fishing, camping, playing hockey, watching Marvel movies, skiing, and playing cards. He was a dedicated Electrician at Vale who worked at numerous plants throughout his long career, while making lasting friendships along the way.
Martin will be deeply missed by his children, Emma, Julia (Dan), and Adam; his father, Julius Szalai; his brother, Matt Szalai (Sue); sisters-in-law, Shelley Foy (Andy) and Clara Cote; brother-in-law, Emile Cote; nieces and nephews, Savanna (James), Shane (Jason), Andrea, Alyssa (Ivan), and Krystal; several great nieces and nephews; and many dear cousins and friends that have been by his side since childhood.
Martin was predeceased by his wife Lucille Szalai, mother Cecile Szalai, and brother Michael Szalai.
Funeral visitation at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St Sudbury, Sunday August 20th, 2023, at 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
Cremation with entombment at the Park Lawn Cemetery.
