THORPE, Madeleine Yvonne (née Rosset) - Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital. On Friday, November 13th, 2009 at age 86. Madeleine was a pillar of strength and an inspiration of love to her family and community. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Parish. Loving wife of Thomas Thorpe predeceased. Devoted mother of Peggy Thorpe (husband Jorge Williams) of Ottawa, Carmen Thorpe of Hearst, Anne Shelton (husband Paul) of Toronto, Daniel Thorpe of Lorraine, Québec, Miriam Thorpe of Toronto, Francis Thorpe of Sudbury, Lise Thorpe (husband Peter Chrapchynski) of Calgary, Alberta and Colleen Thorpe (husband Marc Fauteux) of Montréal, Quebec. Cherished by 22 grandchildren (Keith, Kirsten, Heidi, Jason, Steven, Sean, Corinne, Darren, Kevin, Moriah, Liam, Abigail, Asha, Isaac, Michaela, Alayna, Laetitia, Julien, Gabriel, Béatrice, Léonie and Robin). Dear sister of Edmond, Betty, Johnny and George and sister in-law of Pat and Verna. Predeceased by brothers Henry and Robert. Madeleine was raised in Haute Savoie, France and settled in Sudbury at the age of fifteen. Her French roots greatly enriched the lives of her children. She cultivated many interests: cooking, sewing, gardening. She spent her time reaching out to others. Ses enfants souhaitent célébrer sa belle vie. Resting at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd.(at Notre Dame), Sudbury, Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 :30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Sudbury.
