TOBIN, Beatrice

December 5, 2012 87

TOBIN, Beatrice - In loving memory of Beatrice Tobin (née St.Marseille). On December 4th, Mom passed as she wanted, peacefully at the Maison Vale Hospice, pain free and surrounded by her beloved daughters. Mom was anxious to meet her Almighty Father and to be reunited with her loving husband of 61 years, Dick and awaiting brothers and sisters. Mom was born in Cartier, Ontario to Adelard St. Marseille and Clotilde Pelletier, on February 24, 1925. Mom and Dad met in 1948 in Sudbury, were married on May 16, 1950 and raised 3 daughters. Mom was a gifted singer and sang as a soloist at weddings and funerals throughout the city and as a choir member at many churches in Sudbury, including Holy Trinity, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Christ The King and Our Lady of Hope. Mom was one of the founding members of the Interlink and Northern Echo Choirs and was able to sing well into her 80's. Mom had an unwavering belief in God, and her faith inspired all who knew her. Her kindness and compassion for family, friends and often strangers was selfless and moving. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (David), Marian (Randall) , Eileen (Cameron), Granddaughter Meghan (Mathew), Great-grandson, and “the cherished light of her life“ Liam Grayson, and Grandson Nathan. “Aunty Bea“ will be sadly by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Hugs and kisses to cousins Wayne and Reggie for their unwavering love and support for our family during the past several years, especially throughout our Dad's lengthy illness and passing and most recently being with us during Mom's final journey home. Mom is also survived by elder sister, Lucienne. We are grateful to our Cape Breton Tobin relatives for their care and concern. Many thanks to Dr. Cano and all the wonderful, caring staff at the Cancer Centre, the competent and warm-hearted staff at CCAC and Bayshore Home Health, especially Karen Farrington. Many thanks to Father Larry Rymes for his delightful home and hospice visits. Sincere thanks to Dr Dube and Slaney for their attentive and nurturing care. Much appreciation is extended to the nursing and ancillary staff at Maison Vale for their outstanding and loving, gentle care provided to Mom during her short stay. Much gratitude is extended to Paul Dunn and Debbie Greenwell for providing the guitar and harmonies to join the Tobin sisters in the many sing-a-longs performed for Mom, hospice residents and staff. It lifted all our spirits at a very sad time, but especially for Mom. Gratitude is extended to Leo Therrien, Executive Director of the Hospice, for his personal attention and support given to our family. Thanks also to Catherine Coe Funeral Director at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Chapel for the heart- warming home visits. Being able to have a vigil with Mom at the end of her journey, was a sacred gift for my sisters and my children. One of the most special moments, for us, was receiving Holy Communion with Mom for the last time. We shed many tears of sorrow but had many more uproarious bouts of laughter, reminiscing about the past or just finding humour in the moment. We will forever cherish these memories. Memorial visitations at JACKSON and BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Memorial service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at 11:30 AM. Cremation with interment at the Lasalle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale Hospice or the Elgin Street Mission or Blue Door Cafe.
