In loving memory of Donald Gregory Topolnisky, born September 11th, 1955, in Sudbury, Ontario, who passed away on March 28th, 2024, at the age of 68 years.  Beloved husband to Teresa “Bella” (Foligno) the love of his life, married 46 years.  Loving father to Danica (Wade Redden), Corissa (Blake Doenz) and Marcia (Nick Korpikoski). Cherished Grandpa to his beautiful grandchildren; Leni, Harper, Ryann, Niko, Swayze, Henrik and Nash.  His family was his pride and joy and will always be.

Dear son of Max and Edna (predeceased) Topolnisky; who together had 9 children. Beloved brother to his siblings; Dave (Suzanne), Margaret Carlyle (Don), Mary Taylor (Brian), Maureen Chiesa (Peter predeceased), Mike (Lana), Ron (Don’s twin), Tim (Sharon), and Carol Kilbertus (Gary predeceased), (Wayne).  Step-son to Marie Jeanne (predeceased) and step-brother to her children. Beloved brother-in-law to Carla Gasparini (Scott), Mike Foligno (Janis predeceased), (Nadia).  Adored uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Don worked in the mines at Inco, and then went back to school and earned a degree in Electrical Instrumentation. He worked at Greater Sudbury Hydro for many years, starting in the Labour Department to Substation Electrician to Substation Supervisor.

Don was a family man, known for his humor, generous heart, and the love for outdoors.  He had an appreciation for all things nature related whether it was planting new trees, walking or fishing, and would look forward to having his Timmies looking out on Ramsey Lake. Many reached out to Don because he was a “jack of all trades” and he loved helping others.

He was a social and thoughtful person who touched the hearts of everyone he knew and met. Some of his fondest memories were spending time with his family at camp, fishing, playing cards, and being surrounded by his loved ones. Most of all, Don enjoyed being a grandpa cheering on his grandkids no matter what sport or activity, teasing, and being teased, and was proud and inspired by their accomplishments.

Don left this world far too soon, leaving us with heavy hearts. What gives us comfort is our faith in God and knowing that he is at peace in heaven watching over us. Don was blessed with the love and support of his family and friends and it’s the cherished memories we have of him; his love and laughter that we will hold dear in our hearts. To our families and friends, and to all who have known Don, we are grateful for all the love and support, and for all your thoughts and prayers.

Keep Life Simple” was a phrase Don would often quote and live by.  He will be dearly missed and will be forever in our hearts.
