TRAMONTINI, Ilio

January 25, 2013 93

TRAMONTINI, Ilio - July 6th 1920 - January 24th 2013 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ilio Tramontini, on January 24th 2013 following complications from a recurring heart condition. As was his nature, he fought hard and courageously until the end. Ilio was the eldest son of Attilio and Angelina Tramontini (both predeceased), and beloved and loving husband of Vera Tramontini for 67 years (predeceased). He will be sadly and deeply missed by his son Robert (wife Betty Jane), and his grandson Paul. Ilio was proud and happy to call Copper Cliff his home, where he was a life-long resident. He was employed at Inco's Copper Cliff smelter for 43 years, and retired in April of 1980. He was also a member of the Inco Quarter Century Club. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of the Italian Club in Copper Cliff. Loving brother to Bruno Tramontini (predeceased), (wife Zita), Elsa McDonald (husband Clayton, predeceased), Bruna Richer (husband Ray, both predeceased), and Gino “Pat“ Tramontini (predeceased), (wife Cleda). Dear bother in law to Derna Ghiandoni (husband Georgio, both predeceased), Fern Lee (husband Murray, predeceased), and Albert Lugli (wife Louise). He will be missed and fondly remembered by them, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ilio lived a full life. He played both baseball and hockey as a youth, and played in several provincial tournaments in each sport. During WWII he served in the Canadian Armed Forces with tours in Holland and England. In addition, he became an accomplished musician, mastering both the clarinet and saxophone. He was a band member in the concerts held at Ramsay Lake in the 1950s. He also played a mean game of Italian card games, such as Tressette, and Briscola. He was well liked by all who met him due to his constant unassuming, non-judgemental, and friendly nature. The family wish to thank the staff of the Walford on the Park, and the St. Joseph Continuing Care Centre for their assistance and care at both locations during his time staying with them. He was always very complimentary about the people who worked at both of these locations. Arrangements are being made at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Friends and family may visit after 10:30 a.m. for a service on Saturday January 26th 2013. Funeral prayers will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment at Lasalle Cemetery. Following the graveyard ceremony, there will be a reception at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home for those who can attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale Hospice (1028 South Bay Road; Sudbury Ontario; P3E 6J7), or St. Stanislaus Church (78 Balsam Street; Copper Cliff, Ontario; P0M 1N0), would be greatly appreciated.
