Ann Marie “Annie” Dalle Vedove

1937-2024

After a short and unexpected illness Annie Dalle Vedove (Samborski) passed away at Maison McCulloch Hospice surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Saturday February 17, 2024.

Annie was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on June 17, 1937,  the first daughter to her parents Nicholas (1971) and Jennie (2013) Samborski.

She met the love of her life Phil Dalle Vedove and soon married him on October 28, 1961. They raised their family and celebrated 53 years together shortly before Phil passed away in 2014.

When Annie wasn’t taking care of her children and grandchildren she dedicated her life to taking care of her church St. Anthony’s and later Our Lady of Hope. She did everything from folding church bulletins, raising funds for necessities at the churches, praying regularly at the Chapel of Adoration and filling in when someone couldn’t make it - basically she took care of her church and when asked why she did so much she said, “Because of my love for God”.

Annie was the much loved mom to Debbie Dalle Vedove (Richard), Laura Falvo, Danny Dalle Vedove  and Phillip Dalle Vedove (Christina). We will miss her dearly.

Adored Baba of Deanna, Marissa and Sara (Josh); Philip (Cassie) and Emme (Dan); and Paige (Trevor). Annie was also a Great Baba to her great grandson Philip and soon to be born Sophia.

Annie was the beloved sister of Morris Samborski (Claire). She was predeceased by her brother Peter Samborski (2018) and her sister Gloria Berens (2023).

Annie will be remembered and missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including close family friends and neighbours for 49 years Luigi (GiGi) and Lisa Ricci.

Annie loved her church community. She took care of her friends and neighbours and up until she went into the hospital she was regularly driving them to appointments or other activities. Our family knew when she just had to make a quick trip to the church to do something she’d more than likely be gone for hours.

Nevertheless she always made time for her family and enjoyed playing cards with all of her children and grandchildren. She cherished every family celebration from birthdays to graduations and weddings.  She loved music and was our family’s “dancing queen”. She danced with the newel post at her parents’ house as a young girl and when she met our Dad she had a dancing partner for life. When we were kids we would sit on the couch in awe watching our parents jive. She danced her last dances with her family at her grandson Philip’s wedding in 2022.

Special thanks to Dr. Andrew Pearce and his team at the Cancer Centre for all the love and compassion that was shown to our Mom. Thanks also to Dr. Singh for his counsel that had our Mom spending her last days at Maison McCulloch Hospice which was truly a little bit of Heaven on Earth. The entire caring staff made Mom’s journey to go home to God so much easier for her and for our family.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday February 21, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm and in the evening from 6pm to 8pm with prayers at 7pm at Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent St.. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church at 19 Mary St. on Thursday February 22, 2024 at 11 am - Father Ramesh officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
