In loving memory of Romana Velcich (nee Giobbe) 94 years, passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North on Monday, April 15th, 2024.
Beloved wife of 65 years to Georgio “George” Velcich predeceased in 2014. Loving mother of Gabriella, Sergio (Alice), George “Peacho” (Karen), Evelyn (Robert predeceased), Franca (Tony), and Giovanni “John”. Cherished Noni of Peter (Lynn), Dino, Christopher, Diana, Tracy (Ken), Shane (Nadia), Ryan (Justine), Jesse (Kira), Mitchell (Keisha), Dustin (Christina), Connie (Nick), Jennifer, Stephanie, John Nicholas, and Christina (Spencer), and adored Bisnoni of Taylor, Amanda, Joseph, Marisa, Luca, Bianca, Emmitt, Avery, Easton, Macey, Olivia, Nico, Nuncio, Nando, and Mia.
Predeceased by her parents Gabriel and Conchetta Giobbe, brother Mario and brother-in-law Angelo. She is survived by her sister Josephine “Pincuccia” and sister-in-law Rina. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Special thank you to Wendy for her love and support.
Romana was born in Trieste, Italy on August 8, 1929, and immigrated to Canada with her husband George in the early 1950’s. She was known for her cooking and creating Italian master pieces in the kitchen for her family and friends. She enjoyed being outdoors and being out on the water. In her later years she enjoyed going to casino. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church.
She will be buried alongside her husband George in the Civic Cemetery on Friday, April 19th, 2024, at 10:00 am. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
