VINCENT, Réal - est décédé paisiblement dans le Centre de soins pour anciens combattants Perley-Rideau d""Ottawa le 25 juillet 2010 à l""âge de 87 ans. Né à Lavigne Ontario, le neuvième de 18 enfants, il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Noëlla (Forest) avec qui il venait de célébrer 60 ans de mariage, ainsi que ses 7 filles: Carmen, Nicole, Danielle, Joanne, Lise, Andrée, Roberte et leur conjoint respectif. Réal avait 15 petits enfants et 3 arrières petits-fils. Il laisse aussi 7 frères et soeurs. Réal Vincent a eu une vie bien remplie. À l""âge de 18 ans, en 1941, alors que la Deuxième guerre mondiale fait rage, il quitte son village natal pour offrir ses services aux Forces de l""Air du Canada. Il se retrouvera donc de l""équipage d""un bombardier Liberator, de l""escadron 355, effectuant des missions en Indes entre 1943 et 1945. À la fin des hostilités, Réal revient au Canada pour d""abord recevoir une formation d""horloger à Drummonville, puis il s""installe à Sudbury avec son épouse Noëlla, enseignante, et commence sa famille. Après une brève période de travail comme horloger, il décide de lancer son propre commerce, la bijouterie J R Vincent de la rue Borgia à Sudbury qu""il exploitera jusqu""à ce que la rénovation urbaine du quartier l""oblige à fermer boutique. Il sera par la suite douanier pour le gouvernement du Canada et par moment, entrepreneur en immobilier et agriculteur, exploitant avec son frère l""ancienne terre paternelle près de Lavigne. À sa retraite des douanes, il se consacre à rénover en main de matre le chalet familial sur les rives du Lac Nipissing pour en faire sa résidence permanente. Les filles, leur conjoint et leurs enfants viendront y passer de nombreux Noëls mémorables. Devant la réalité d""une santé chancelante, Réal et Noëlla acceptent de quitter leur coin de paradis pour s""installer dans une résidence à Ottawa, en 2003 et depuis 2007, au Centre de soins pour anciens combattants Perley-Rideau. Une Célébration de sa vie aura lieu à la COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE de Sudbury le vendredi 27 aot. La famille recevra les condoléances dès 13h, la célébration suivra à 16h. Les parents et amis sont ensuite invités à un souper commémoratif à la salle Palladium de l""Htel Radisson, chemin Ste Anne. VINCENT, Réal - passed away peacefully in the late evening hours of July 25 2010 at The Perley-Rideau Veterans Health Center in Ottawa, at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife Noëlla (nee Forest) with whom he had celebrated sixty years of marriage only 10 days earlier, and his 7 daughters: Carmen, Nicole, Danielle, Joanne, Lise, Andrée, Roberte, their husbands, 15 grand children and 3 great grand children. He was the 9th child of a family of 18, 7 of whom are still living. Réal Vincent had a rich and full life. In 1941, at age 18, he left the family farm near Lavigne, Ontario to serve his country during the war. He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force and after basic training and a period in England, he was assigned as a nose gunner aboard a Squadron 355 Liberator class bomber running missions in India from 1943 to 1945. Upon leaving the Air Force, he trained to become a watchmaker in Drummondville, Quebec then settled in Sudbury, Ontario with his young wife Noëlla, a teacher, to start a family. He worked as a watchmaker for a brief period then decided to open his own business: JR Vincent Jewelers on Borgia Street. Urban renewal in that area prompted Réal to seek out other opportunities including investing in housing in the boom town that was Elliot Lake in the 50""s. His entrepreneurial spirit never left him; after he took a day job as an agent with Canada Customs, he continued to deal in real estate and other business ventures. He even dabbled in farming, buying the old family farm near Lavigne and running it with one of his brothers. After retiring from Customs, he put his considerable woodworking skills to use by transforming the family cottage on Lake Nipissing into a very comfortable permanent residence where his daughters and their families would celebrate many memorable Christmases. Faced with failing health, Réal and Noëlla sold their little piece of paradise and opted for a retirement residence in Ottawa in 2003. Since 2007 they have been residents of The Perley-Rideau Veterans Health Center. A full celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010. Family will receive condolences as of 1 p.m., the service will follow at 4 p.m. at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 LaSalle Blvd, Sudbury. All will gather afterwards for a commemorative dinner in the Palladium Room of the Radisson Hotel, Ste Anne""s Road.
