In Loving Memory Of Oiva Johannes Virkki, 85 years, Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 At the Elizabeth Center. Beloved husband of Maire Fanny (Koivulahti) Virkki predeceased March 2, 2006. Loving father of Marian (David Hopton), Peter (Kim), and John (Karen). Cherished grandfather of Russel, Charlie, Elena, Ben, Dawson, Riley and great-grandchild Wesley. Dear brother of Onni of Finland, predeceased by Lasse and Reijo. Sadly missed by many relatives in Finland. Born in Finland, where he married Maire in 1952. Oiva was a skilled carpenter and worked for the Carpenters’ Union for many years. He was a member for over 25 years of the Finnish Male Choir, a member of St. Matthew’s Church, the Finnish Historical Society and a proud Finnish war veteran. Funeral Service In the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Monday, May 3rd, 2010 at 11:30am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to War Amps, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Center would be appreciated.(Friends may call 6-9pm Sunday or after 10:30am Monday).
