It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Bertha Ann Wabegijig (nee Nebonaionoquet) on February 7, 2024, at Health Sciences North, surrounded by her family. Bertha is back in the loving arms of her late husband, Dennis Wabegijig. She is survived by her children Carmen (husband Vance), Dennis (wife Brandy), Amanda (husband Joe), Crystal, her Grandchildren Andrea, Denise (Wade), Dylan, Courtney (Makohns), Dennis (Vincenza), Tiana (Ryan), Joe, Lauren, Jasmine (Malakai), and Great Grandchildren Katarina, Weston, Emery and Baby on the way. Special God Mother to Melonie, Angela and Erin, and her Special Grandson-in-law, Karaka.

Bertha is now reunited with her parents Sam and Noella Nebonaionoquet. She is a dear sister to Josephine (Joe), Cynthia (Late Gabe), Greg (Connie), John, Eric and predeceased by Welland, Mary Jane (Elmer), Fred (Karen), Lily, Herb, Stephen, and Nancy.

In life, Bertha enjoyed planning and being with all her family for family dinners, celebrations, fishing, blueberry picking and most of all, being at the Family Camp. She was also an avid sports fan by watching her husband and family play hockey, baseball, bowling and most recently, Dance. She was proud of all her family and cherished all their accomplishments and milestones.

Bertha was a Waitress at Huskys, Homemaker and Custodian with Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Manotsaywin Nanotoojig Inc. for many years. She made numerous friendships with staff and enjoyed telling a joke or just having a friendly conversation with them. Some of her free time was spent at the Casino with family and friends.

Bertha will be missed by many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-Laws, Friends and Community. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St at Hazel St. Friday February 9th, 2024 at 1:00pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium (Friends may call after 10:00am Friday).
