In loving memory of Lois Pearl Walli (nee Hunt) 89 years. Passed away peacefully at Extendicare York on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023.
Beloved wife of 48 years to Einar Walli predeceased in 2005. Loving mother of Jan Walli, Martha Walli (Kevin Ellsworth), and John (Nancy Ewings). Cherished grandmother of Katie (David), Brady, Jack, Lauren, and Camryn.
Predeceased by her parents Harold and Pearl Hunt (nee Bereau), and her siblings Ronda (George), Joan, and David. She is survived by her brother-in-law Des, and many nieces, and nephews. She will be missed by many friends from Greater Sudbury, Burlington, and Meadowbrook in Lively.
Lois was born in Cornwall, Ontario on December 24th, 1933. She married Einar on July 13th, 1957 in Lee Valley. She was an elementary teacher in Broder Township, McKim Township, and a special education teacher in the Halton Region. She was the past president of the Copper Cliff Women’s Curling Club, and was proud to have volunteered with the Special Olympics and at the Friendship Centre in Lively. Lois and Einar spent many years travelling coast to coast, depending upon where Chris and Alice Campbell lived at the time. She enjoyed many summers at The Camp on Onaping Lake. In later years she took several trips to Europe with her good friend Estelle Kelly. She loved curling, playing bridge and cribbage, and valued education, independence, and family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff, nurses, and PSW’s at Extendicare York and ICAN, with special love to Dr. Mirka.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society Sudbury Manitoulin Chapter, the Lee Valley Hall, or Community Living (Greater Sudbury) would be appreciated by the family.
A memorial service will be held at the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent Street, Sudbury on Friday, June 16th, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Friends may gather at the funeral home after 11:00 am Friday. A joint celebration of life for Lois and her brother David will be held at the hall in Lee Valley, 983 Lee Valley Road, Sables-Spanish Rivers, on Sunday, June 25th, 2023 from 11-4pm.
