WARRINER, Shirley

October 31, 2011 87

WARRINER, Shirley Norma (Nichols) - It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Norma (Nichols) Warriner announce the sudden passing of a truly extraordinary woman on Tuesday October 25th, 2011. She was born to Katherine and Thomas Francis Nichols on the 3rd of August 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska and she passed on surrounded with the love and comfort of her family at her side. Shirley was many things to many people. A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, mother in- law and friend. Eternally devoted wife to her one and only true love Clifford Orville Warriner (predeceased). Older sister to Anna May and Clayton both predeceased. Loving mother to daughters Doreen “Dodie“ (husband Gerry), Christine (husband Ray), Judy (husband Eric), June (husband Guy), and son Todd. Beloved Grandmother to Larry (wife Carmen), Clifford (wife Valerie), Raymond, Jason (wife Amy), Colin (wife Jill), Kyle (wife Ashlin), Kimberly (husband Pierre), Stephanie (partner Chris), Cheryl, Erica and Koleman. She had a special place in her heart for her sons in-law, dear friend Charmaine, sisters in-law Rose & Kay and her bowling friends. Shirley will be missed by 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She had a great love for bowling, knitting, embroidery, walking her beloved pet Baby (predeceased), John Wayne films, and obsessively keeping her floors shiny and clean. She was also known for her famous butter tarts and pies often fought over by her grandchildren. Many special times were had at Swiss Chalet or as she liked to call it The Chicken Chalet with her family and friends. To “the girls“ she was considered a best friend and their biggest cheerleader. Although Shirley's family and friends feel a great loss that she is no longer physically with us, we choose to celebrate her amazing and inspiring life, and how she positively affected so many people. She was our role model and our greatest supporter above all else. Her fierce independence and self sufficient nature made us all very proud and will forever inspire us. At Shirley's request a funeral will not be held. Donations can be made to the SPCA or the Salvation Army. Grandma loved visitors, please visit her at the Parklawn Cemetery next to her love Grandpa Cliff. In honour of her memory live, laugh and love each and every day to the fullest. Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME. To light a memorial candle, flowers, donations or messages of condolences available on-line at www.lougheed.org
