WEBSTER, Kenneth Fredrick - With love and fond memories, we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, and grandfather at Extendicare Peterborough on Monday, February 7, 2011. He was 85 years of age. Survived by his loving, devoted wife Marlyn (nee Ojala) and his four loving children Ken, Penny and Nancy; daughter Lynn who lost her battle to cancer in June 2009. Proud grandfather of Ken and Laura's (nee Durepeau) son Derrick and Penny's sons Trevor and Tyler Brown. Older brother to sisters Dolly Huyer who passed in 2003, and Connie Sullivan. WWII vet who served overseas at age 17. Post WWII he met and married Marlyn in 1951, and he also became an elementary school teacher at the following locations; Fort William (1951- 1956); Educational Director - Muskoka Hospital (1956- 1958); Vice Principal/Principal Elementary Schools; Elliot Lake (1958 - 1966); Sudbury (1966 - 1982). Throughout his teaching career, he enthusiastically coached hockey and skiing to children and teenagers. His skiing ability was demonstrated when he won an all Ontario open cross-country ski competition in 1942. He was also very keen to improve his teaching abilities, and he did so by achieving the following by night school, weekends, and summer: B.A. -Laurentian University - 1970 (Major - Geography; minor -history); B.Ed- University of Toronto - 1974; MSc.Ed. - Niagara University, N.Y. - 1977. Spiritually strong with a contagious sense of humor, Ken will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends will be received at COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME 83 Hunter St. W., Peterborough, on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30p.m. Funeral service will be held from St. Luke's Anglican Church, 566 Armour Road, Peterborough at 2:30 p.m. Final burial to take place at Civic Memorial Cemetery, 365 2nd Avenue North, Sudbury on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 1pm.
