Dearly loved father of David White (Dorothy Jane (D.J)), Amanda Derks (fiancé Dennis Mainville), both of Sudbury, Gordon White (Janet) of Calgary, Stephen White of Kitchener and Shelley Belford of Oakville. Gordon was very proud of his grandchildren; Caitlin, Pamela, Duncan, Sarah and Matthew White, Krystyn, Alexandra and Emily Derks, Jeffrey, Stephen and Owen Belford, Meghan Miglierina (Brent), Jason Irving and 3 great grandchildren. Son of the late John C. and Corinne “Bunnie“ (Baker) White. Brother to Gloria Corbeil (John) both predeceased, Dorothy Relph (Len) of Salt Spring Island and Carol Bethune (Frank, predeceased) of North Bay. Gordon will be missed by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins. Gordon attended St. Vincent de Paul School and Scollard Hall in North Bay before going to work for Cochrane Dunlop in North Bay, Geraldton, Dryden and came to Sudbury in 1969 where he then worked at Acklands for 15 years. Gordon returned to Cochrane Dunlop before his retirement. He worked in sales and management. Gordon was an avid volunteer. He was a Rotarian for 18 years, serving two terms as President of the New Sudbury Rotary Club. He served on the Mayors and Councilors Committee for two terms (years). He was very active with CARP, Canada's Association for Retired Persons, serving as its President from 1999-2006. CARP's greatest accomplishment, during his term, was getting the local hospitals to stop sending patients out of town to recuperate, where some families were unable to visit their loved ones. Next to his family, Gordon loved two things, his cottage and his Sudbury Wolves. He was an avid hockey fan, and attended games at Copper Cliff and other local arenas.
