Sandra “Sandy” Wierre (1965 - 2023)

In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that we share the sudden passing of Sandy Melinda Wierre, at her home, on December 9th, 2023, at the young age of 58.

Born to Taimi and Antti Wierre (predeceased), Sandy's journey through life was molded by the love and values of family. Sandy was a sister, aunt, and friend who always listened, and always remembered. She shared an unbreakable bond with her five sisters: Sheila (George), Susan (Brandon), Sirkka (Dan), Shirley, and Sonya (Ray); and her brother Ken (Cheryl). The strong family ties were woven with countless, shared moments that will be lovingly remembered forever.

Sandy was a very special and proud aunt. Her heart extended to many nieces and nephews: Jessica (Guy), Jayda, Janel, Melissa, Scott, Bradley, Lauren, Kristen, Gwyneth, Audrey, Ken Jr. (Aukje), Leif (Rene), and Tommy. In her role as an aunt, she welcomed two great nephews, Marcus and Merik, and two great nieces, Maeva and Adelynn. Their laughter and innocence gave her such joy.

Sandy’s love for life, animals, and the outdoors, manifested in her zest for simple pleasures, family gatherings, shared moments at camp and special sister weekends.

In recent years, her daily connection with family and friends, defined her genuine caring character to regularly reach out, inquire what was new, how things were going, and to always provide uplifting and loving messages.

She was also a devoted mom of 17 years to her beloved dog, Sadie, who was always by her side, and who surely misses their walks.

Sandy overcame the challenges in her life with a strong Finnish will and continual self-advocacy. Her incredible resilience, her “Sisu”, enabled her to thoroughly enjoy her life, family, and friends, every day. We are so grateful to have so many wonderful memories, and we will always remember her huge smile, her contagious belly laughter, and her unwavering love for her family.

May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved parents and grandparents. Sandy’s wish would be that any donations be given to the Sudbury Pet Save or any animal shelter.
