With his family lovingly by his side, Clifford John William Yaw, 53, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Cliff is survived by his loving wife Tara Yaw and their 3 children Brady Yaw, Dawn Yaw-Rogers (Wyatt) and Kylie Masiero (Malcolm). A beloved papa to Kashtyn, Rowan and Karsyn. He will be fondly remembered by his mother Alice Yaw (Richard, predeceased), his sister Julie Reah (David) and his in-laws Edgar and Claire Farnel. His loss will be sorely felt by all the gang at Sand Bay Camp.

Cliff was born in 1970 in McKerrow, Ontario, and grew up immersing himself in nature, fishing, hunting, quadding and camping. He worked in the construction industry his whole life, and made a name for himself that he could be proud of. He was well-respected as a hard-worker, leader and mentor in the industry. While he was incredibly revered professionally, the value he brought to his family was immeasurable. The love he had for them was out of this world; and he had a special place in his heart for his 3 grandchildren. He kept a note in his phone with all of their full names, birthdays, birth weight and lengths. His greatest joy was watching his kids and grandkids be together for Sunday suppers.

Cliff was the life of the party. His smile was magnetic and lit up a room. Cliff was the first guy anyone would call when they needed help. Car battery died at 6am in -40 weather? Call Cliff. The chandelier in your kitchen is hanging by a thread? Call Cliff. Your van is overheating on the camp road? Call Cliff. Need your entire house gutted and rebuilt? Call Cliff. He loved drinking beers with friends, watching movies, listening to AC/DC and firing up his barbecue. His booming voice, infectious laugh and love of jokes kept a permanent smile on everyone’s face.

Despite the challenges the last 15 months presented for Cliff, he remained poised, courageous and graceful throughout the entire process. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Malone, Dr. Lam, Dr. Bowen and all the compassionate nurses and caring staff at the Northeast Cancer Centre. On his final night, the family took comfort in the kind words and gentle care of Dr. Kohtakangas and nurse Peter.

In true Cliff style, a celebration of life will be held at home in his beloved garage at 38 Laura in Lively on October 28, 2023 at 2pm. The family asks that you honour Cliff and his memory by wearing a t-shirt of your favourite rock band or funny saying. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Northeast Cancer Centre. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Service.
