It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph (Joe) Zanchetta on St Joseph's Day, March 19th, 2024, at the age of 92.

Survived by Bernice, his loving wife and best friend of 67 years.  Cherished dad of Linda Lalonde (Richard), Maryann Zanchetta (Craig), Brenda Donnelly (Ian), Joanne Stienstra (Ken), and Karen Canapini (Michael).  He will be greatly missed by his 9 loving grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by his eldest brother Silvio, sister Yolanda and his parents, Giovanni, and Ida. Survived in Italy, by his brother Sergio Zanchetta (Dina), sisters Ida Zanchetta (late Enea), and Clara Tomasi (Roberto) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe had a passion for cycling, Formula One and Nascar, and was a lifelong Chicago Blackhawks fan.  He worked at Falconbridge for many years as a rigger in the smelter, ending his career as a supervisor. However, he always said his greatest accomplishment was his beautiful family.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit of Health Sciences North or Northern Cancer Foundation Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Callaghan, Dr. Main, Dr. Masters, the nurses and PSWs of the fifth floor of Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario and his physiotherapy team Warren and Jason.
