ZAWIERZENIEC, Mary (Nykilchyk) - In Loving Memory of Mary (Nykilchyk) Zawierzeniec 85 years, Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 at the Extendicare York. Beloved wife of Steve Zawierzeniec predeceased 2000. Loving mother of Hunza, Stephen (Joyce), Nick (Brenda) and Mary Sue Norman. Cherished grandmother of Damara, Kala, Brenton, Christopher, Matthew, Candice (Joe), Darcy and great-grandchildren Avery and Ethan. Dear daughter of Frank and Annie Nykilchyk predeceased. Dear sister of Mike predeceased (wife Margaret), John predeceased (wife Joan) and Walter predeceased (wife Yvonne). Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and her canine friend Montana. Mary was born in Ukraine, coming to Canada as a child. She married Steve in Sudbury in 1943. Mary was a devout Catholic who belonged to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was an avid gardener whose green thumb produced beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables. She had a great affinity for animals. She spent many happy times at the family camp on Manitoulin Island. Her home was always meticulous and welcoming to all who came to the door. She was an excellent cook who was happiest hosting family dinners. The focus of her life was her family and she took great pride and interest in their activities and accomplishments. The light of her love will be cherished by all who knew and loved her, and they are comforted in the knowledge that she is reunited with her dear husband and is their guardian angel in Heaven. Barnard Chapel, Thursday, April 7th, 2011 at 2pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Sudbury Chapter of the SPCA would be appreciated.
