Child at day camp in Waterloo, Ont., tests positive for COVID-19

WATERLOO, Ont. — The Region of Waterloo Public Health unit says a child at a day camp has tested positive for COVID-19.

Acting medical officer of health Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang says the number of children potentially exposed to the disease is small.

Wang did not identify the camp due to privacy concerns.

She says they are still investigating how the child contracted the disease.

Wang says the public health unit responded quickly and declared an outbreak at the camp.

There are 35 active cases of COVID-19 in the region and an overall total of 1,438.
