Man, 34, charged with first-degree murder in 'vicious assault' that left woman dead

SARNIA, Ont. — Police have charged a man with first-degree murder in what they describe as a "vicious assault" that left a woman dead in Sarnia, Ont., in March.

Sarnia police say they were called to an intersection on March 13 for reports of a woman in distress.

They say Sarah Thwaites, 29, died of injuries she suffered in an assault.

Investigators say they arrested and charged 34-year-old Owen Clarke of London, Ont., on Thursday.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.

They're asking anyone with information to come forward.
