One male dead, one male injured after car found in Lake Ontario in Toronto

Toronto police say one male is dead and another is injured after a car crashed and fell into Lake Ontario this morning.

Investigators say a vehicle with two occupants was reportedly travelling at a high speed on Cherry Street, near the Polson Pier Skyline Viewpoint, at around 3:40 a.m. when it came close to a bridge under construction.

Police say it then lost control before entering the water.

One male occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second male passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their names and ages were not immediately released.

Police say officers with Traffic Services have taken over the ongoing investigation and they are asking anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.
