Police charge man after vehicle reported stolen in Newfoundland turns up in Ontario

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — An Edmonton man has been arrested in Ontario for the alleged theft of a vehicle missing from Canada’s easternmost province.

Police in Sault Ste., Ont., say the Jeep was reported stolen in Newfoundland last month.

The car, spotted at a local Sault Ste. Marie business, was reported to police this week.

Investigators determined the grey vehicle was the same one reported stolen in the Atlantic province.

A 59-year-old from Edmonton was been charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

He has a court appearance scheduled for January.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 11, 2020.
