Research director to resign from Ontario COVID-19 science table

TORONTO — The scientific director of Ontario's expert COVID-19 advisory group is resigning.

Dr. Peter Juni has accepted a position at Oxford University and is set to assume his new role in July.

A spokeswoman says Juni hasn't set a date when he will officially step down from the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, and the group is "looking at succession planning" for his position.

Juni is a professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Toronto.

He is also director of a research centre at St. Michael's Hospital in the city.

The science table has published provincial disease modelling and other research on COVID-19 throughout the pandemic.
