Two boys, aged 12 and 17, among those injured in daylight shooting in north Toronto

TORONTO — Police say a 12-year-old boy is in critical condition and a 17-year-old has life-threatening injuries after a daylight shooting in Toronto's north end.

Toronto Police Chief James Ramer says two suspects shot at least 30 rounds at a moving vehicle at around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday before running away.

He says two men and the 17-year-old boy from that vehicle were wounded, and the men are in stable condition.

Ramer says the 12-year-old was an innocent bystander, out after a shopping trip with his mother.

He says the incident has all the hallmarks of being gang-related, but police have yet to work out all the details.

He says police will remain in the area as they investigate the shooting, which he called "disgraceful."
