Watchdog investigating death of man shot by police in Temiskaming Shores, Ont.

TEMISKAMING SHORES, Ont. — Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the death of a man who was shot multiple times by two officers in Temiskaming Shores, Ont.

The Special Investigations Unit says officers with the Ontario Provincial Police were called to a home on Thursday evening because a man refused to leave.

The agency says that when officers got there, they found the 43-year-old man, and there was an interaction.

The SIU says two officers shot at the man, striking him several times.

It says he died after he was taken to hospital.

The Special Investigations Unit is automatically called in to probe serious injuries, deaths and allegations of sexual assault where police are involved.
