16-year-old stabbed in Wikwemikong

The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service are actively investigating a stabbing incident that occurred in Wikwemikong Dec. 26.

Around 9 pm, the Wikwemikong Tribal Police received a call to assist the Manitoulin Ambulance Service at a residence in Wikwemikong with a stabbing victim. The victim, a 16-year-old male from Wikwemikong, fled the scene and was later located and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The accused in this incident also fled the scene and was located and taken into custody by Wikwemikong Police officers. The accused in this incident has been identified as Darren Cooper, 19. He has been charged with aggravated assault.

The investigation is continuing and police are seeking the assistance of the public in the investigation.
