A man whose serious drinking problems escalated into violence against two women in his life within the last few weeks was sentenced to 50 days in jail Friday.
Randal Aelick, 38, pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault, one against a girlfriend and one against his former wife.
Court heard Aelick was severely intoxicated March 23 when he got into an argument with his new girlfriend, accusing her of seeing her husband, who she is separated from. Aelick put a knife to his throat and told the woman to slit his throat, before grabbing her by the neck and roughing her up.
Ten days ago, April 20, Aelick was again drinking when he got into a heated argument with his wife, who is the mother of his two young children. Violence ensued as he slapped her twice and kicked her in the arm.
