95 charged with Highway Traffic Act violations

Police charged 68 people with speeding, 16 with failing to wear their seatbelts and 11 with various other offences.

While conducting radar traps on Desmarais Rd. in Hanmer, one officer observed a vehicle travelling at 113 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The driver’s excuse: “I got new tires and was trying them out.”

One driver was caught at 128 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Municipal Rd. 80 in Valley East and another caught at 108 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on The Kingsway.
