?Bank inspector? scamming citizens

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is warning citizens to be aware of a bank inspector scam that occurred recently.

An unsuspecting victim was contacted by telephone by someone pretending to be a bank investigator who requested assistance in helping to identify bank staff believed to be stealing money from customers. The victim was asked to withdraw money, deliver it to the ?bank inspector? at a designated location, and told the bank would replace the money in a couple of days. The scam recently netted the culprits $9,500 in cash.

Bank personnel do not operate in this manner. Sudbury police advise the public to never provide personal information on the telephone. If they receive this type of phone call, hang up. and report the incident to police and the bank manager.
