Bill 203 claims its first licence in Sudbury

Greater Sudbury Police issued the first vehicle suspension & vehicle seizure to a 42-year-old male from Sudbury under Bill 203 of the Highway Traffic Act on Oct. 1 at 1:50 pm.

Greater Sudbury Police issued the first vehicle suspension & vehicle seizure to a 42-year-old male from Sudbury under Bill 203 of the Highway Traffic Act on Oct. 1 at 1:50 pm.

The officer was conducting radar on Municipal Road 35 when he observed a motor vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. The vehicle was subsequently clocked at 133 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone, 53 km/h over the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt, 133 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone, and speeding 133 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone

The driver was issued a 7 day suspension of his drivers licence on the roadside and his vehicle a 2003 GMC Jimmy was impounded for seven days. His drivers licence was seized and will be returned to the Ministry. All storage and towing fees are a lien on the vehicle and the driver is responsible for those costs.pdf
