Most people in Canada don't know the reality of organized crime in Canada.

That is why the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) and Public Safety Canada  has launched a new website in honour of Organized Crime Day.

The goal of the site is to instruct Canadians about the real facts on organized crime, how to recognize crime, how to protect themselves and how to report it, said an Ontario Provincial Police statement.

The website contains facts, such as how to recognize a counterfeit operation, and direct links to the Criminal Intelligence Service Canada for more information.

“Police Week 2007 provides a unique opportunity to focus attention, and ultimately increase public awareness, on the issue of organized crime,” said Chief Jack Ewatski, Winnipeg Police Service and president of the CACP.
