Car collides with truck closing Hwy 69

Update - The Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at 3 pm on Friday, June 8 on Highway 69 by Henri St in Greater Sudbury.

The collision occurred when a northbound car crossed the centre line and struck a southbound five-ton flatbed truck head-on, said a news release.

Three people were injured in the collision and taken to Memorial Hospital in Sudbury, due to St. Joseph's Health Centre being closed.

The male driver of the car sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the car was treated for minor injuries and released.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

Original - Highway 69 was closed just south of the OPP station in Greater Sudbury just after 3 pm Friday because of a collision between a five tonne truck and a Chevy impala.

There is one person with serious injuries that needs to be extricated from their vehicle.

Drivers heading North or South on Highway 69 can bypass the accident.

The accident, which is approximately located at Henri Street, can be bypassed by southbound drivers by going left at the OPP Station onto Pioneer Road and heading south on Pioneer till Southlane. Go right on Southlane and follow back to Highway 69. Northbound drivers can reverse these directions.
