Two people are dead following a collision on Saturday night (Sept. 22) at the intersection of Long Lake Rd. and the Highway 17 bypass.

At around 8:40 pm, a red 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier was travelling southbound on Long Lake Rd. when it entered the intersection and was struck by a blue 2006 GMC pickup truck driving eastbound.

clipThe passenger in the car, Bradley MacNeil, 31, and the driver of the truck, Ronald Senecal, 50, were both killed after being ejected from the vehicles. Neither MacNeil nor Senecal were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The 22-year-old driver of the car, who was buckled up, escaped serious injury. She was treated at the hospital and later released. An investigation into the accident is ongoing and police have yet to determine if charges will be laid.

The deaths happened on the same day of the launch of the province-wide Fall Seatbelt Campaign in Ontario.
