A Chelmsford man was killed in the fatal collision that took place Thursday morning on Highway 144 near the Onaping Lake turnoff.

OPP say a late model car travelling southbound entered the northbound lane and collided with a northbound tractor-trailer.

The passenger in the car, Bradley Liebrecht, 37, of Chelmsford, died in the collision. The driver of the car, Matthew Adams, 22, of Sudbury, suffered
serious injuries and remains in critical condition at Sudbury Regional Hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

A preliminary investigation by an OPP technical traffic collision investigator reveals there was a mechanical defect with the car, which may have been a contributing factor in the collision.
