Thirty years after committing his heinous sex crimes, a local man was given a three-year penitentiary term Monday on top of almost two years he?s spent behind bars in pre-trial custody.

Following a lengthy trial, George Sauriol was found guilty in December of raping two young women and molesting a third child who was between age four and eight dating back to the early 1970s. A publication ban prevents disclosing any information which could identify any of Sauriol?s victims.

Justice Ian Gordon of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice found Sauriol guilty of raping a young girl and threatening her, raping a second young girl in the back of a pickup truck and then molesting a third girl inside her own home.

After the pickup truck rape, Sauriol made his victim walk home alone along a deserted road.

Court heard Sauriol was arrested on these charges after serving time on other sex offences, including possessing and making child pornography.

When allowed to speak, Sauriol declared his innocence saying he was the victim of a conspiracy.
