A local concrete company and two supervisors are facing numerous charges after a young worker was seriously injured on the job last summer.

Charles Radu, 65, pleaded guilty to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety Act Wednesday after a young worker was badly hurt last August 21 while working as a summer student at BrownÂ?s Concrete Products Ltd. in SudburyÂ?s South End.

Radu, who was contracted by BrownÂ?s management to move a steel shed, pleaded guilty to failing as a supervisor to ensure every reasonable precaution was taken to ensure the safety of a worker.

Justice Guy Mahaffy fined Radu $2,000.

BrownÂ?s Concrete and another supervisor employed by BrownÂ?s will return to court on Wednesday, June 4 to answer to numerous charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
