 Escaped federal offender Brent Dowdall has been arrested without incident in New York State this morning by police.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is notifying the community in the interest of public safety that a dangerous offender may be present within Greater Sudbury area.

Brent Dowdall, a federal offender serving a life sentence at the Frontenac Institution in Kingston for second degree murder was discovered missing from the institution on Sunday the 22 April 2007.

Dowdall is originally from Sudbury and may have returned to the area.

Dowdall has an extensive criminal record for violence and police believe that he posses a significant risk to the community while at large.

Brent Dowdall is male, white, 43 years, 5’9”, 141lbs, brown hair, hazel eyes, moustache, has a scar on his left cheek. Dowdall is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids in both ears.

Anyone who observes Brent Dowdall is advised not to approach him and immediately call 911.
