Driver caught doing 177 km/h on Hwy. 69 in Sudbury

A 23-year-old driver from Christian Island has been charged with stunt driving after being caught doing 177 km/h on Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury Oct. 3.

The driver was pulled over by the Nipissing West OPP at 5:57 p.m. that evening. The posted speed limit in the area the person was driving is 100 km/h.

The suspect has been charged with:

  • Race a motor vehicle, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The driver was issued a 30 day Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The accused was released on Provincial Summons and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Jan. 4, 2022 in Sudbury.
