Greater Sudbury Police has released the name of a man who drowned in Lake Wahnapitae when his tractor broke through the ice around 7:15 pm Saturday.

The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Hugh McMaster of Capreol.

Since McMaster, an employee of Rocky's Lodge, a tourist destination on Lake Wahnapitae, was on the job at the time of the incident, the drowning is being investigated by the Ministry of Labour.

"A worker (McMaster) was returning a recently repaired piece of equipment, located on the lake, back to the lodge when it appears the machine broke through the ice," said Belinda Sutton, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour.

McMaster's body was recovered from the depths of Lake Wahnapitae Jan. 22, with help from a Ontario Provincial Police helicopter and dive team.
