Drugs, guns seized by police in Webbwood

Two people are facing charges after the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police detachment members executed a search warrant at a residence on Young Street in Webbwood.

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit joined the Manitoulin OPP in executing the warrant shortly after 8 p.m. on March 19.

Alongside arresting two people, police said officers located a firearm, ammunition, digital scale, packing material and more than $1,500 in Canadian currency.

A 37-year-old from the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order - two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on March 28.

The second person accused, a 30-year-old also from the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers, has been charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

They were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 15.
