Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is offering a minimum $1,000 reward for information leading to the identity of those responsible for graffiti marking the underground walking tunnel that runs from Elgin Street to Riverside Drive.

On April 3, between 4 and 4:05 a.m., a group of unknown people were involved in several acts of mischief (graffiti), said a press release.

“The isolated area of the tunnel located between Elgin Street and Riverside Drive has seen a large increase in mischief in the form of graffiti,” the press release said. “There are a large number of incidents reported annually to police.

“Graffiti is one of the most visible crimes in our community. It impacts the perception of the safety and well-being of citizens and visitors to our city. The cost of eradicating impacts small business owners and the taxpayers of this city. It also has potential to impact property values. Any information on the identity of the suspects or the individuals responsible for this crime would be greatly appreciated.”

A guaranteed minimum $1,000 reward is being offered for tips received before midnight June 19, if the information leads to an arrest. Reward money will be divided if many successful tips are received.
