The man charged with the double homicide on Thor Lake made his first appearance in Sudbury bail court today.

Reginald Carroll, 45 of Wahnapitae, was charged with two counts of first degree murder Thursday morning, following a month-long investigation into the suspicious deaths of his estranged wife Carolyn Carroll, 44, of Wahnapitae and her male friend Mark Anthony Comeau, 46, of Coniston, originally from New Brunswick.

Family members of the two victims looked on in the courtroom as Reginald was brought in. The man is being represented by defence lawyers Terry Waltenbury and Richard Guy.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the courts by video on July 8.

The bodies were discovered on May 16 in a remote cabin on Thor Lake, in Frechette Township, north of Sudbury.

Following the discovery of the bodies, an extensive search of the grounds and lake surrounding the cabin was conducted. A week and a half later, the investigation was moved to Reginald's home, as well as the city's dump.

Officers are continuing their investigation which is under the direction of Detective Inspector Chris Nicholas of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the OPP.
