Five charged with drug-related offences

The Greater Sudbury Police, OPP and RCMP drug enforcement street team continue to chalk up drug busts as part of Operation Digger.

On Wednesday the unit seized about $1,700 in marijuana and hashish and about $1,900 in Canadian currency.

Three Sudbury residents including a youth were charged with drug related offences.

Allyn Miller, 19, was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of recognizance of bail.

Lawrence Stiles, 27, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and a single count of possession of property obtained by crime.

The youth, who cannot be identified, was also charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and a single count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Miller and Stiles were taken into custody. Both were scheduled to appear in court Thursday. The youth was released unconditionally.

Information has been released on a drug enforcement street team bust that came down May 29.

Officers seized about $3,350 worth of cocaine and marijuana and recovered a pellet handgun.

Two Sudbury residents were charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Joseph Thorne, 31, and Katherine Dempsey, 27, made their first appearance in court.
