Greater Sudbury Police say a 13-year-old boy is the person responsible for what was referred to as a "potential bomb threat" phoned into Ecole St. Joseph Monday afternoon, which caused the school's evacuation.

"The boy has been spoken to by officers regarding what he referred to as a 'prank' call and he is extremely sorry for his actions," said a tweet issued by Greater Sudbury Police at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday. "There was never any danger to the staff or students."

Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn said no charges have been laid. She said that decision was made after a conference between the child, his parents, the school and police.

Students at Ecole St. Joseph were sent home this afternoon after a police responded to potential bomb threat was called in at around 2:20 p.m.

The school initiated its bomb threat protocol and evacuated students.

According a GSPS tweet, officers checked the school and found nothing suspicious.

Students are now getting on their buses home, and officers continue to investigate.
