Greater Sudbury man killed after collision between SUV and motorcycles

A 69-year-old Sudbury man was killed in a motor vehicle collision on Nov. 9 in New Tecumseth.

On Monday Nov. 9 at approximately 11:22 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the OPP and emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on Tottenham Road at the 8th Line, New Tecumseth.

A Nissan Pathfinder, which was travelling southbound on Tottenham Road, and two motorcycles were involved in a collision within the intersection at the 8th Line. 

A group of three motorcycles were travelling together northbound when two of them became involved in the collision with the Nissan.

The driver of one motorcycle, 69-year-old Gaetan Guilmette of the Greater Sudbury area was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. He was the lone occupant of the motorcycle.

A53-year-old woman of the Greater Sudbury area was driving the second motorcycle and was transported by Ornge to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries. She is still in hospital.

The driver of the Nissan, a 53-year-old woman, was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the third motorcycle was not involved in the collision.

OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the location to assist with the investigation. During this time, there was a road closure in effect on Tottenham Road between the 7th and 9th Lines. 

The road has since been re-opened.
