The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) Emergency Communications Centre has introduced additional pre-screening measures in an effort to protect first-responders from contracting COVID-19.

These questions will not affect whether or not members of the police force will be dispatched to an emergency, GSPS assured the public through Twitter Sunday.

The only purpose of this screening is to determine what safety measures will be taken into consideration for the protection of first-responders and the public.

"Safety of our first responders is essential," said the City of Greater Sudbury in a tweet referencing the policy change. "Please help us keep them safe."

Residents are reminded that the 911-dispatch service is for emergencies only and is not a resource for health-related inquiries.

Those looking for information on the current COVID-19 situation or to report symptoms are encouraged to visit the Public Health Sudbury and District website or phone the office at 705-522-9200.
