Man arrested after overnight stabbing on Stanley

An altercation between two men resulted in injuries to both, with one being stabbed, GSPS reports

A 40-year-old man was arrested overnight following a stabbing on Stanley Street.

Greater Sudbury Police report that officers were dispatched to Regent Street at around 1:25 a.m. in regards to a weapons complaint.

“Information provided was that two men had been in an altercation at a residence on Stanley Street, resulting in one of the men being stabbed by the other,” GSPS said.

When officers arrived, they report finding a man who had sustained what appeared to be stab wounds. The 28-year-old was transported by ambulance to Health Sciences North with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Officers then attended a residence on Stanley Street where they located a man matching the description that had been provided,” GSPS report. “The man had sustained minor injuries as a result of the altercation.”

GSPS placed the 40-year-old man under arrest. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The man was held in police custody overnight to attend bail court today, Nov. 3.

Police said the two men were known to each other and they believe the incident to be targeted and isolated.
