The Traffic Management Unit has charged a 26 year old male with driving a motor vehicle without a licence and operating a motor vehicle without insurance while operating a pocket bike on Oak Street in Sudbury.

The male is subject to approximately $5000 to $6000.00 in fines.  The public is reminded that they are not allowed to operate pocket bikes or motorized Go-peds on city streets.

Both of these types of vehicles fall within the definition of a motor vehicle pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act.  They also fall within the definition of an Off Road Vehicle.

They do not, however, meet the provincial equipment safety standards for on road use so the Ministry of Transportation will not licence them for the roadway.

Pocket Bikes are meant for closed circuit use only.
