A Greater Sudbury man caught possessing more than three dozen images of child pornography will discover his fate in early May.

Sean Goudy, 28, pleaded guilty Wednesday to possession of child pornography.

A pre-sentence report will be prepared before Goudy is sentenced May 2 by Justice Robert Del Frate of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

One night when Goudy was away, people he knew were suspicious about some of the items on his computer. They called the police.

Assistant Crown attorney Len Walker told the court police conducted a raid and seized computer discs and a computer. They found thousands of pornographic images had been downloaded and 40 of those images were considered to involve child pornography.

When Goudy was confronted by police, he was very co-operative even though he was quite distraught as being arrested and charged, said Walker.

Del Frate agreed with Walker that the images he had to view in order to accept the plea will be sealed by the court and not released to anyone until a further order of the court is made.

Defence counsel Robert Beckett said he will be opposing an application by the Crown to have Goudy?s name forwarded to a new national sex offender registry.

His client doesn?t have any previous criminal record and he will be opposing that application, said Beckett.

Goudy will remain free on a bail order until his sentencing hearing in three months.
