Greater Sudbury Police found the body of a missing snowmobiler on Onaping Lake Monday following an exhaustive search.

Police issued a public notice earlier in the day asking for anyone who might have information about Benjamin Bjorkman, 30, of Dowling, to come forward.

Bjorkman's body was found by police on Onaping Lake. Police say he succumbed to the elements as a result of an accident.

The accident is being investigated by the OPP.

Greater Sudbury Police say they would like to thank all members of the public who assisted in locating Bjorkman.

Bjorkim was last heard from Saturday evening around 6 pm, when he contacted his wife from Cartier.

At that time, Bjorkman called his wife from a pay phone and advised her he was going to drive his snow machine to his sister's camp on Onaping Lake. That camp is located near the Northwood Lodge, formerly known as Onaping Lake Lodge.

Bjorkman never arrived at the camp.

Bjorkman was operating a late model snow machine.
